NSTSE Eligibility

The National Science Talent Search Examination (NSTSE) is conducted by the Unified Council to assess the students’ understanding of Mathematics and Science concepts. The examination gives detailed feedback on the concepts in which the student is lagging behind and requires improvement. Other than India, the examination is also conducted in Indonesia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain, Libya, Nepal, Yemen, Russia and Tanzania.

Students of classes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI (PCM), XI (PCB), XII (PCM) and XII (PCB) can participate, provided their schools are registered with the NSTSE. However, individual entries are also accepted in case the school is not tied up with the NSTSE. The registration forms, prospectus and all other relevant details regarding the event are sent out to the registered schools.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All the students studying in Class 2 to Class 10 are eligible for this examination.

  • Students in Class 11 (PCM and PCB) are also eligible for the examination. The students from PCMB are not eligible for the National Science Talent Search Examination (NSTSE).

  • Those studying in Class 12 (PCM and PCB) are eligible to write the examination.

  • Students from Class 1 have to apply through their respective school only. The open centre facility is not available for Class 1 students.

NSTSE Achievers

Any student who scores 100% marks in the NSTSE is awarded prize money of rupees two lakh. If none of the students achieve 100% then the student who gets the highest marks among all the classes is awarded rupees one lakh. If more than one student scores the highest marks, then the prize money is distributed equally among them.
